Ace's Online MW2 Sniping Tips

Have you ever been online with your friends on MW2 and just can't hit those head shots or killing shots with the sniper rifle? We've all had some high expectations of guns like the Barret 50 cal, the Intervention, the WA 2000, and the M21. Well I'm going to teach you how to get those devastating head shots and those kill cam specials that you've always wanted. First of all, drop the thought of ever being a perfect shot with these guns, it's not going to happen. Even Hutch on Machinima misses sometimes, not that he's not good, he's very good actually. Another thing to notice is that no scopes are LUCK. No freaking way will you hit them 100%, or even 80% of the time. The people at Infinity ward put a whole lot of power into these four guns, it just wouldn't be fair if you could really no scope like that. Quick scopes can be a high percent rate since you do scope in, but no scopes are purely luck and thats all there is to it.  People with videos of these moments usually try to no scope during the whole match, it wouldn't be a surprise if they actually got in a few hits. The first thing you need to know is that the snap on feature works with these guns as well, so you don't have to be a great shot, you just have to get it close enough. The second thing is that people online are always on the move, head shots are only gotten once in a while. If you do however try your hardest for them, they will rack up in spades. The third thing is that you cannot try to hit a target thats not lined up in your sights. If you are aimed in and you see the middle of your crosshairs not layered on top of a target, do not shoot. This gives away your position to anyone around, and you won't get the kill either way.  Still, with the addition of thermal attachments, it isn't too hard to put the red crosshairs on a white target. The next thing I have to stress is that you need to have your sights down to see with your own eyes where the target is located. Only then can you skim the map towards the victim and snipe him off.   Only aim in when you don't have a clue as to where the enemy is. The most important thing is that distance plays a nice heavy role in how you should shoot.  If the target is far, you need to be able to get your crosshairs onto the small target, but most people have no trouble here since the distance is so long. When the opponent is terribly close, you can't try to aim in and shoot because you will get your butt handed to you on a plate. Always switch to the side arm as quick as you can and fire. Still, if you feel lucky than go ahead and try for a quick scope, you've got nothing to lose. Attachments are as helpful to you as you want them to be, since each one is better suited for different situations in different environments. The ones that I would recommend is the Thermal scope, normal scope, FMJ, and the ACOG scope. These give you the most help when sniping regularly. Thermal Scope pretty much lays out the targets for you, if you can get red on white than you shouldn't have any problems here. One thing I should warn you about is the speed at which it moves when scoped in. It's super slow, so you still should know where the target is before you scope in. Normal scope is pretty much what it is, can't really say anything about it at all. FMJ helps those that cant seem to hit those bastards that like to hide behind cover.  FMJ doesn't give the gun more power, but when you need to kill an opponent behind a wall in one smooth shot, it'll do the job. The ACOG scope is my favorite since it "allows" for close quarters fire fights. The aim on it is just short enough to pretty much pawn any one close enough to me, but it still has that distance to where you're not safe far away from me either. With the Barret 50 cal equipped with it, this thing straight owns any body in the vicinity. I easily got the fall camo with just the ACOG scope equipped.

The silencer in my opinion just takes away too much power for me to use. I mean, if you wanted to not be seen while shooting, you might as well use Ninja Pro or Cold blooded on your perks. Throw in a couple of counter UAVs and they won't see you coming. Its just a waste of time to shoot two to three times just to kill them, and they will know where you are by the hit marker and kill cam anyway. If you are however a headshot pro who can always hit the headshot with a sniper rifle no matter what, that I guess you can use it with no fails whatsoever, but I highly doubt most people can 100% of the time hit the head. Still, use what you know and don't let me change your opinions. The one other thing i can tell you is that when sniping, you need to break the habit of rushing at all times. Unless you are a sure shot and yada, yada yada... (Already told you above), you can not compare to the rapid force of assault rifles. Camping may seem bad, but it really helps a lot when sniping. So yeah, I'll say it, when I'm sniping, I'm a camper, a major one at that. It helps the team to get kills, instead of getting killed. A balance of rushers and campers is what makes a great team anyway. When you camp in a high traffic area, people that run through usually tries to get to where they last died, so they don't pay attention to any sniper in the area. An example is the top and bottom sections of the Skid row map. These are key points to easy stragglers when you camp near this area. Always look for high traffic areas to try and get easy open rushers. The guns I'd say use are pretty much all of them, I mean you just can't go wrong with this list of sniper rifles. The Intervention is the only bolt action rifle in the list, and the power is way above both the WA2000 and the M21.  People say that bolt action rifles are hard to use because they cant fire real quick, but if you think about it, you should only fire once per enemy anyways. Plus, I think its real cool when it just shoots out and hit someone square on the noggin. (*Pow!!* *Ding*) The Barret 50 cal has as much power as the Intervention, but it's semi automatic making it the most beneficial gun for beginners. Even though it is semi automatic, the rapid firing of this gun will make it kickback tremendously making every shot immediately after it off target. It takes at least a half a second or more to reset to it's original position. Like the Intervention, it should be one shot one kill as well since the power is about the same, but the wait is still shorter than the intervention and thats got to count for something. The WA2000 has less power overall than both the Intervention and the 50 cal, but it's also semi automatic and the kickback is a whole lot less severe than the 50 cal. You can easily tag someone enough times to do enough damage to equal both the Intervention and the 50 cal quickly. Even though it's not as flashy as the other two are, it's a great weapon for sniping quickly through a crowd of enemies. The M21 is almost like the WA2000, but it's more of a stealthy type of gun than just one to kill a lot of people at the same time.  This gun goes very well with the silencer and is well used by people that want to kill without leaving a trace. It's kickback is the most minimal of the four, so you will hit your mark most of the time even if your crosshairs are barely on the target. One hit kills are hard to get even with stopping power on, and most likely you would definitely want to aim for the head with this gun. The only other thing I can say is that you need to practice sniping either on special ops, or campaign.
